Ealing Soup Kitchen
"For when I was hungry, you gave me food,
when thirsty, you gave me drink,
when naked, you clothed me ...."
(Matthew 25 : v.35)

Ealing Soup Kitchen
Ealing Soup Kitchen (ESK) was started some thirty odd years ago by members of St Peter's Church, West Ealing and Ealing Abbey. Originally soup was served out of the back of an estate car in Mattock Lane, near Dean Gardens. The police objected to these activities and an off-road venue was sought. St John's Church in Mattock Lane offered their church room and the soup kitchen has been housed there ever since.

It is thought that originally ESK was under the jurisdiction of the Ealing Council of Churches, but it is now simply a loose amalgamation of Ealing churches, namely :

Each group takes a weekend at a time, with extra duties being taken on at Christmas. The kitchen is open, serving soup and sometimes sandwiches, cakes, etc. plus tea, coffee and soft drinks, every Saturday and Sunday from 4-5pm. At Christmas time, extra days and hours are added, usually opening Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

As well as food and non-alcoholic drinks, ESK also provides clothing and bedding when items are available.
